It was in 2008 that Laurence Maheo began the story of La Prestic Ouiston by assembling vintage silk twill scarves into unique pieces.

Her numbered creations, upcycling before its time, immediately captivated a clientele sensitive to the poetry of detail.

It wasn’t until September 2010 that La Prestic Ouiston’s first collection was presented. In 2019, the Parisian brand opened its first boutique in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, on Rue du Dragon, not far from its corner at Le Bon Marché department store. In June 2022, Laurence bought the butcher shop in her hometown of Baden in the Gulf of Morbihan, where she successfully established the brand’s second location.

THE CREATOR

Laurence Maheo is a multifaceted artist.

A stylist and founder of La Prestic Ouiston, she forges a path imbued with color and poetry, with a distinctive style. As an author, she created her own eponymous publishing house to produce a collection of exquisite artist’s books sold in the finest bookstores. This year, she designed the new collection for the Gien pottery factory, with which she has collaborated on artistic direction since the bicentenary of the renowned French company.

The prints of La Prestic Ouiston have always stemmed from her work with Laurence Kiberlain, illustrator and longtime collaborator of Laurence Maheo, as well as with Audrey Demarre, embroidery artist, Stéphanie Bonvicini, sculptor and ceramicist, and many others!

Behind the ready-to-wear brand, there is an unclassifiable creative process that gives it all its authenticity, not far from its native Brittany and its family heritage, traditional oyster farming.

VALUES

CLASSIC, CHIC, UNIQUE, ELEGANT, AUTHENTIC, QUALITY

“Alongside my fashion brand, I took over the family oyster farm in Brittany after my father’s death. With a fundamental respect for nature and the environment, I worked with deep conviction in both my careers. As a result, my oysters have been recognized by the Slow Food organization (13th Presidium of Taste).

I am happy and proud to say that my brand, since its inception, has used only natural materials, including dyes that are certified green. The labels on my garments are made of brocaded silk, and their buttons are mother-of-pearl. Furthermore, my entire team is female, and together we work on a recurring upcycling approach to fashion.

La Prestic Ouiston is a sustainable wardrobe that will shape the vintage of tomorrow!”
